1.  THE MONASTERY RIDGE GROUP INC

The Monastery Ridge Group Inc. (M.R.G.) is a properly constituted Community Body (No A0044363W), registered under Section 7 of the Associations Incorporation Act of 1981.  It was incorporated on 19 June 2003 in response to widespread community alarm about the insidious nature of inappropriate development taking place in what is know as the 'Wicklow Ridgeline'

2.  AIM OF THE GROUP

We are a "not-for-profit" organisation, formed to promote and support sound planning, along with a sustainable environment, pertaining generally to the Monastery Ridge Area, within the City of Maroondah.  The Group is made up entirely of volunteers.  All activities are funded through Membership Fees – see under Membership for details.

The M.R.G. is not opposed to development, or redevelopment, provided it is in appropriate cases and in appropriate locations.  However, we are totally united in our opposition to the fragmentation of the area around our homes, by multiple occupancy development on existing single occupancy house allotments and the subsequent loss of Tree Canopy and Vegetation Underlay.  Once these invaluable assets are allowed to be destroyed, they will be gone forever.
