Background:  The property originally consisted of two large blocks, each with an existing house, adjacent to Grandfill Reserve.  Subsequently, one house was extensively renovated while the second was demolished.  The developer made application to Council for a permit to sub-divide the two larger blocks into seven smaller ones, which Council rejected.  The developer then appealed to V.C.A.T., where he was successful in having Council’s decision overturned but with several limitations and restrictions imposed.

M.R.G. Stance & Activities:  M.R.G. joined the local residents of Kenmare/Alto Avenues (K.A.R.G.I.) to oppose the original application and subsequent appeal.  Essentially it was the ‘864m² block size’ rule that lost the day for us.
